Hello,
I purchased the new Nav DVD (2021 from Acura) for update of the navigation maps.
I’ve located the Nav DVD player on the passenger side near the console floor behind the carpet hatch. It has an orange “open” push button but the door doesn’t open or any DVD eject on pressing it. I don’t see any error codes or warnings. The unit appears to be functioning normally.
Is there any special code or procedure to replace the DVD?
Check the glove box for the salesman’s business card. It is probably in the sleeve provided for you manuals. When we brought our Hondas the salesman told us to call him if we ever needed information. Honda grades their dealers on customer service and I suspect that the salesman might have that information and might even do it for you in their parking lot. Ours offered to pair our phones and do any customization we wanted at no extra cost. I’m sure he was looking for return business and new customers from our recommendations.
It is possible that you need to provide power to open the dvd door. If you haven’t already, try opening the dvd door with the car running. Our Hondas don’t provide power to anything with the car shut off.
Ok, I found this link that says"4. Open the access door by pushing the OPEN button". So, there seems to be no special procedure. I’ll try again before going to the dealer.
After 18 years? You think the sales rep is still there? If you asked a sales consultant for help updating an 18 year old car, I think there’s a pretty good chance you’d walk out of there with a newer car.
My 2011 Outback had a DVD-based Sat Nav system, and I was very surprised that they never tried to sell me an updated set of DVDs after a few years. The procedure for removing/installing the navigation DVDs simply involved prying-off a rectangular cover on the dashboard, directly above the slot for music discs, but I never wound-up using it. If the car’s Sat Nav drew a blank, I simply used the Waze app on my phone, instead.
Yup!
Recently, I bought a new coffee maker and it didn’t seem to respond to my button-pushing when I was trying to program it. It turned-out that I had to keep the buttons pressed for a longer period of time than I had anticipated.
