Gasoline Prices

It’s not exactly legal to feed the deer. It’s called baiting. Around here there are yearly hunts in city areas to cull the herd down or they would destroy everything in the nature parks. Chronic wasting disease in on the increase though so it may be nature’s way of culling the herd. I have little sympathy for those creatures though so the last thing I would do is contribute to a feed the deer program. People yeah, deer no.

and there is this…

Researcher finds ‘stunning’ rate of COVID among deer. Here’s what it means for humans | CAI (capeandislands.org)

Deer are thriving because their natural predators have been removed or greatly reduced. Wolves, coyote, big cats and more no longer roam a lot of areas inhabited by deer. Cars and hunters are now the predators.

Gators like deer. Especially the smaller ones in Florida. So we are not overrun with deer. Bears, maybe. Pythons, iguanas, monitor lizards, and capebarra maybe, but not deer.

My neighbor is feeding the squirrels, not unusual to se 5 running around. Asked an old bud for a recipe for squirrel, soak in salt water for 24 hours etc. Live trap could work! Keeping it car related he stuck a tail on the antenna of my picke em up truck, lasted quite a few years! Hopefully not hungry enough to go after car wiring!

We use the anti squirrel stuff in the bird feeder. Otherwise dang things jump, fly, climb, to get to it. Not dumb. Feeder even suspended 2 feet out and 10 feet up and the guys still get to it. How they can climb up a 5/8" steel rod, I dunno but they figure it out. Guess that’s why they are called squirrels and not ducks.

grease the pole and he will not get up from the bottom. make sure there is nothing above that they can jump down from.

And you thought you were having a bad day

Does this mean I have to cut down all the ornamental plants in my yard? They love it all.

And let’s not forget synthetic vs. conventional oil.

I would never tell you what to do but the deer are scaring the rabbits.

Just filled up the truck. $4.69 reg. How high will it go? take your bets.

We’re in for it. Current consumption vs. production is unsustainable. As they said on the Edmund Fitz before sinking “Boys, it’s been good to know ya”. The worst is yet to come. I hear some laughing in the background.

What do gas prices have to do with the situation in Ukraine? Assuming high prices somehow are related to hurting Russia, how do high oil prices hurt Russia? Russia has plenty of their own oil so they are not affected, and if they do manage to sell it despite the sanctions they make more money with the high prices.

Where were you in 2014 when this whole situation started?

That’s largely a reaction to significantly reduced driving during the pandemic. People bought significantly less gasoline, gas stations bought less from wholesalers, refiners reduced production and the demand for crude oil to feed the refineries decreased. Seems like supply and demand to me. What’s your point @bing?

Obviously, some/many will come-up dry, and it will take a while for the productive new wells to start pumping, but there was a very significant up-tick in the approval of drilling permits on federal land in the 12 months from January, 2021 to January, 2022.

While environmental groups are not happy about this development, I think that the majority of Americans should be elated about this news.

I read an article a few days ago that said the current administration’s permit approval number was higher than each of the first three years for the previous administration, though the Trump administration approved over 5000 permits last year.

And now, for something completely different…

Oh I dunno, kind of like the supply issue will only get worse. Let’s not blame the pandemic or Putin. We all know the exact time that prices began to skyrocket which had been stable for several years. And we all know why. You would expect no less from folks that hate fossil fuels.
