Ford Explorer Door Sensors

I have a '02 Explorer and the door sensors are driving me crazy.

Sometimes the interior lights stay on, sometimes they won’t

come on at all. Lately the the door open chime sounds while

cruising down the freeway for no reason. I have tried to isolate the

door causing the problem, lubed everything in WD40. Perhaps it

is just a single module that needs replaced? I welcome any suggestions.

Try spraying the door latches with CRC Electrical Contact Cleaner while working the door handle.

WD40 actually causes more trouble on most components as it tends to attract dirt.

They’re mounted to the door latch from the inside. lube from the outside barely hits the tip of the switch let alone the stem that needs lubing. take the door panel off and either remove and clean them or replace them.
