I have a 1994 Ford Explorer. My driver’s side door alarm continues to chime after I have shut the door and started the engine. Sometimes it stops if I tap on it but when I turn on the lights is starts again and will not stop. It even begin chiming even when no one is in the vehicle. What could the problem be?
I had the same problem with a 98 Windstar. The switch was inside the door latch. To clean the switch contacts, I sprayed CRC Electrical Contact Cleaner (or in a pinch WD40) into the latch while working the door handle.

Thanks. I will try that right away.
there is a fuse for the door chime either in cab or under the hood, just yank it out.
