Ford Escort Window Channel

Got a window channel that is missing on my 98 Ford Escort (four door). Went to dealership and Ford does not make them any more. With winter heading in soon I’d like to find one but can’t seem to find them anywhere…its the lower one with a steel core.

Any ideas on were to search?

If I owned a 1998 Ford Escort…I would make make friends with the people at your local salvage yards.

Saw those on Jc’s website, called them and they said it wouldn’t be an exact fit?!?! Confused on how they’d fit and if they’d be front, back or all around fit.

@Harland…I have made several purchases through JC Whitney over the years. “Exact fit” is not really in their vocabulary. I believe they used to be called Warshawsky’s or something like that.

45 years ago I ordered a couple used tires from JC for my Morris Minor. They were still JC then and the catalog looked amazingly similar. The tires came but they had actually glued on the sidewall from another tire on to the side of the tire. I was just trying to save money. I sent them back and never ordered anything from them again.

I’m not sure which piece you’re talking about but its got to be available somewhere I would think. You might want to just stop by a body shop (that maybe does some restoration) and ask for a supply reference or maybe gonna have to hit the junk yard. Problem is they aren’t going to want to ruin a door for that. My BIL has a 64 Fairlane and he has replaced all of the weatherstripping on it so its got to be available.

I may have been a little hard on JC Whitney after looking at their catalog. I do remember buying new headliner for my VW bug and other items that were ok. You just have to be very careful-they’re kind of like the Kmart of auto parts but do have quite an array of items.

I’m not sure what window channel you’re talking about but in the catalog they have like 30-40 different kinds with the pictures. If you can match what you need with the picture, it might be worth a shot. Otherwise Partstrain.com has some different kinds.

Instead of a body shop though, an auto window glass company might have a better idea of where to get the stuff locally. When they did my Riv, they had no problem at all getting new windshield molding. Just had to order it for delivery that afternoon. So its certainly avalable, just have to dig a little.

I see, thought something was up with “universal fit” term. I’ll call out to some body shops tomorrow. Checked junk yard website and they don’t have the part on list, who knows they might be able to special order, will also check to local owned parts store that does special orders.
