Feature Suggestions

I have to admit, the more I use this system, the more I hate it. Here’s what’s really bugging me now: I don’t see any way to list the posts by time posted. They seem to be listed by responses to each other. That means there is absolutely no way to see what’s new. You can’t even scroll down to the end and scroll back to what you haven’t seen. If there are multiple pages, new posts could be on any page. It also means that anybody that has already read the thread won’t ever see your post unless you reply to the original, which I guess is what I’ll do from now on. I’m sort of thinking that we’re only seeing part of this system, that there’s probably a way to set preferences that we’re not allowed to see/use. Otherwise, I can’t believe anybody would take the time to program a virtually unusable system.

I just returned after not posting since the beginning of June. I was hoping that in my absence maybe someone would pull things together and do a major overhaul on this board. But geez, guys (and/or gals), this is just miserable. As was stated above, why did someone go through SO much trouble to reinvent the wheel? There are so many good boards out there (open and closed source alike) that you could have used. Even if the idea was to make this board look unique, you could have taken the time and effort used to build this board, and apply it to customizing existing software.

There are features which users just come to expect from a forum, and this basically has none of them.

How about a “preview” button for new posts?

Try “above spell” or “As-U-Type” Both I believe are fee. I am using As-U-Type now

I would like to have an edit button to edit my own messages and maybe a way to mark duplicates so someone might be able to clean them up.

Maybe it is just me, but I would like to be able to look and see three classes of message threads. Those I have not read, those that I have read and not responded to and those I have responded to.

no.

as SO many have said…

we used to be able to set up our own preferences, to see replys either in order from oldest to newest, or newest to oldest. (our choice)

OR

seing newest posts first.

OR

saving logon info so the board would come up as soon as we opened up the shortcut to Cartalk.

here i thought it was my new computer, and some settings i hadn’t figured out which were stopping this from running smoothly!

“its not the computer that runs slow, it’s the programming!”
