Feature Suggestions

I always wondered about those responses of your Joesph. I just figured you had some kinda text file with responses to questions that pop up atleast once a week or so.

Also, as for a suggestion, I’d like to see the posts flow chronologically instead of grouping them where a post is made 10 days later, but it’s somewhere in the middle of the thread. Guess I’m just used to the 99.999999% of the forums that do this.

And the ability to view more than 10 posts/threads per page

We’re building in the edit feature and left it out originally for the reasons others have stated. An edit timestamp will be included.

We’re working on many of the other features and issues that people have made clear, like the annoying pop-up post, the missing navigation, etc. Many good suggestions. Can’t do everything at once. Right now we’re trying to get out of beta which requires more focus on the admin side for the next couple weeks. Then stuff that addresses more concerns here, and then usability this summer.

I’m getting kind of tired of logging on repeatedly.
Log on, go back 10 minutes later and repeat process.

I would like to be placed into the thread where I left off. That was a great feature in the old BB. I now have to go through 3 or more pages of popular threads to get the the stuff I haven’t read. I hope you phase this one in soon.

I think this board would be best utilized using keys. Make it fully navigable with keys for those that want… It won’t be long before I ware a hole completely through my Mouse Pad!
Some suggested keys
M= menu
L= last
P= previous
N= next
E= enter

I am re posting this at the end of the line.

EDIT there is already a ENTER key, ignore that

I’ve noticed that “anonomous” has posted a lot of responses. I suspect that is because a “user name” is not required.

However, many of us found it useful to know who was posting - and sometimes we could tell it was the same person even though he used a different name.

Well, I hope your advertisers pull out until you make this thing usable. Maybe that will speed things up. This new format is a disgrace. You should have worked out the basics and the bugs on willing guinea pigs rather than forcing everyone to put up with it until you get around to making it work even close to right. And killing the old format? You’re out of your minds!

They seem to be a darker blue color to me if there is a new posting. (note one the tread header, I don't believe that holds for the individual post however.
  1. After posting to a thread, it would be nice to have a quick way to return to the prior viewed thread index page. As it is now, the only way I see it can be done is to go back to the “Topic Index”, then “Car Questions” then scroll through the pages

B) How about a thread preview when you put your cursor over the thread? Many BBses have this feature now.

III) I want to see the names of the OP and last poster to the thread. Your old board did that and it was a nice feature.

I could go on…

Having to check the agreement box every time we post an answer is a PITA.

Of course we agree to it, otherwise we wouldn’t post!

Can’t edit so repost. Perhaps I jumped the gun by my last statement.

Have to check the box if NOT logged in?

OK, here’s another feature suggestion. When I was reading a post just now I clicked on reply and typed up a response to the poster’s question. When I hit “submit” I got the terms of service warning. I had forgotten to log in. Now there was no way to log in and keep my typed message. Either anonymous posts should be disallowed, or give us a way to log in while editing a reply.

  1. Where is the cursor?

  2. Need some way to jump to post #346.

As anyone who has worked in business for more than 10 minutes can tell you – You don’t “work the bugs out” on a production system.

This new software is a headache at best, a nightmare at worst.

Not everyone has a 26 inch monitor. The topic list used to fit on the screen. Now you have to scroll to see the list of topics and to hit the next button to move on in the list. This just wastes time and effort. The old version was compact and user friendly.

Cursor Please!
Automatic log-in Please!
Name of last poster showing please!

And some sort of posting order, none of this searching for a new post, they should be at the bottom, like the old board was.
