I have a 2005 Ford escape. Recently I have noticed that when I puch the automatic lock button I head the familiar click - but it is followed a split second later by what sounds like a muffled gun shot. Any suggestions? It does this whether I am in the drivers seat or passenger seat.
If the power locks are locking and unlocking properly, the click is likely the switch/relay and the noise following is the power lock actuators working the way they are designed.
They should all lock/unlock at the same time except when using an individual switch.
