Hi everyone.I have a mercury villager 2000.Last night the Brake light, battery light and ABS light all came on.I could still drive it.I took it to a mechanic close by and he could not figure out whats going on. He thought it was an electric problem. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
That combination of warning lights almost always indicates that your alternator is failing.
Before you wind up stranded in an inconvenient location, I suggest that you take it to a mechanic with better diagnostic abilities, and specifically ask him to check the alternator output. He will likely find “ripples” in its output, due to failing diodes.
Don’t delay in doing this because total failure of the alternator usually takes place very soon after the symptoms begin.
Thank you so much for your help.
