I had an elderly customer back in the late 90’s that would make me (and watch) spray WD-40 on ALL the ball joints, tie rod ends, idler and pitman arm or center link joints, bushings etc etc, if it was a wear item, I had to spray it… Bless her heart, I just smiled and chatted with her while I sprayed everything down… she said if it helped her knees, it had to help the car… lol
She brought me the WD-40 and I refused to charge her for the service… Man did she make a mean Rum cake… lol
Unless I am replacing a radiator or water pump, I have never replaced a hose for maintenance, only had a couple of heater/bypass hoses leak or blow out, unless had an oil leak that leaked on the hose… But under normal circumstances, very rarely have I had a rubber coolant hose fail…

In 60 years of driving, the only hose that ever failed was a heater hose on an '86 Taurus, but it was only ~4 years old.
Oh man, just had flash backs of those stupid hoses, replaced tons of them, hacksaw or cutoff wheel the factory clamp to remove the hose from the hard line that the dealer wanted you to replace… They were sooo bad, that we just started replacing them if still factory cause we knew they would not last long… They were blowing at like 30-40K miles IIRC…

Yup!
Getting to those very short hoses–and removing them–was really annoying. Mine failed at highway speed, but I was lucky enough to be able to get home before I lost too much coolant.

Speaking of old Tauruses, here is a short video of Conan O’Brien driving his POS '92 Taurus. But, it was the stick shift SHO model, so it was better in its day than the “regular” Taurus models.

I owned a 93 SHO Taurus. The engine was the best part of the car.
The clutch was as heavy as a dump truck.Very tiring in stop and go traffic!

Got it at Wally today - they have multi color.
I picked the white one.
Its good that its only 8oz.
What I do not know is the spray will work after the first use - i do not know if I need to clean the spray mechanism after the first use to ensure its repeat performance!
I’ve not cleaned it and it still works after several months.
