I have a 1993 Dodge Caravan. Recently, something broke in the support for the seat back on the left side. Today, I pulled the seat out and looked.
The seat back has steel tubes running up the left and right side of the seat back, and near the bottom, there is another tube running crossways that is welded to the uprights. The weld between the crosspiece and the left upright has broken.
Any advice as to what I should do?
Ignore the problem?
Try to get it rewelded?
Try to bolt or epoxy the joint back?
Or start looking for a used driver’s seat at a junkyard (which means first finding a junkyard – it’s not like we have a lot of auto graveyards in the northern suburbs of New York City.)
Perform the highest quality repair you can afford,I say new seat. If the back fails and you fall backwards, well it could get bad.
I had a 91 Caravan and got rear ended,it broke the seat back.
