Denial of service attack?

It definitely looks like it to me, based on the overrwhelming number of spam posts. I flagged as many as I could, but there is apparently a limit to the number of flags in a 24 hour period.

But there doesn’t seem to be a limit on the number of spam posts.

And, those spam posts are coming in at a rate of one–or more–per minute.

They need to shut down the creation of new accounts first, then delete all this garbage. But I guess these are getting in through that ask a question route, which I’ve never checked out

@cdaquila - give us an update once this is all cleaned up.

I sent this in to BOTH the mods over 2 hours ago…

They know about it and are working on it… I had flagged a bunch also…

A funny one was in another language and as I went to flag it, it changed over to and said the auto system deleted the spam… not verbatim of course…

EDIT to show screen shot…

It auto removed a normal looking post but couldn’t figure out the Spam… lol

@VDCdriver @davesmopar We see it. Our tech team has been alerted to the issue. Thank you for flagging!!!

Thank you. I sent Caroline a message around 5 this morning, was afraid it was only me seeing the spam. Though I’m only at 115 new SPAM posts.

@Purebred We are on it. Thank you for flagging. It is early morning for me, so I am just seeing this. But we are on it. Thank you so much.

Since the “Ask Someone” service is a potential source, I’m curious, how does somebody “Ask Someone”? I’ve never used it.

Is this it? Then it’s not the source.

Saturn site never fixed issue. Had to shutdown. Bummer.

You get to it from car complaints

Nope, I saw them too, I flagged the 1st couple, then the bottom fell out… lol

I only SAW one SPAM POST on ask some, up to 135 on all other categories.

To post in “ask someone” you have to go through “carcomplaints”. Just for kicks I posted a typical “question” on the site. When I say typical, typical of the non-questions that cross over to us.

My “question” headrest on my F150 prevents me from wearing my hat. Silly statement, but not uncommon for the “ask someone” section. It is very hard to find, does not readily show up when googled.

I’m going to try to test that out, @Purebred

Edited to add… In the process of noodling around on Car Complaints, when I clicked on… something (don’t recall what it was)… I was taken to a site that Bitdefender identifies as “infected and dangerous”.

Thus ends my experiment with Car Complaints.

The influx of these spam posts seems to have slowed down… a bit. Instead of one or more per minute, they seem to be popping up “only” every 2-4 minutes.
