we have a 2003 VW Jetta that has been making a “chirping” noise which sounds to me like it’s coming from under my foot on the brake pedal. The brakes are also making a sound, more like a rubbing which are set to be replaced on Friday. Before I get to the VW dealer and drop 8 million dollars - I thought I might ask you geniuses. any thoughts?
Sounds travel and sometimes can fool you.
‘Chirping’ noises are usually related to worn/loose drive belts or worn pulley bearings (belt tensioner, alternator, etc).
A high pitched chirping/squeal can come from a brake pad wear indicator.
Your upcoming brake job MAY cure the noises.
