Please stop complaining about CarTalk
There are at least 4,000,000 that don’t think it is annoying apparently, as that’s how many people listen to the show each week. Car Talk I’m told is the most popular one hour weekly radio show in the USA. But I suppose you could argue that with 300 million in the USA, 296 million aren’t listening to Car Talk on any given weekend, so you’ve got that stat to support your side.
I think if someone enjoys the entertainment value of Car Talk, listens for that reason, and picks up a little common-sense car repair knowledge by osmosis in the meantime, that seems like it would be good thing. But that’s just me.
I occasionally listen to other car repair call-in shows by podcast, but I’ve never mentioned them by name as something I listen to on this website b/c I think doing so would be rude. Sort of like when I was invited to Thanksgiving dinner event last week, and I didn’t like the pumpkin pie they served. But I didn’t tell the hosts what I thought about their pie. I simply accepted the pie as served, ate it, and didn’t say anything about it. My protest was that I just didn’t ask for seconds.

Just about, since most folks ended up here because they LIKE the show…
Some people have a problem when others don’t agree with them. Since usedcars doesn’t like Car Talk…he has a hard time understanding why other people might. And gets kinda upset when other people don’t follow his “opinion”
@MikeInNH…I think you hit the nail right on the head.
I was like this in my younger days concerning Ford owners. My dad was a diehard Ford fan so I grew up riding in Fords. When I started driving…I found out that I could drive a cool Chevy product for the same price. As I got more mature and a little wiser…I could see the attraction for some Ford vehicles like the Thunderbird and the 55 F100. I have owned Ford Rangers and I consider them to be the best small truck ever on the market (sorry S-10’s). Maybe @UsedEconobox will come to love the show…as he gets older. Maybe not. I’m guessing not.

Not only do many people nowadays have a hard time understanding that not everyone agrees with them, but we see also tend to see, “pushback”, from some posters when they get a verdict that differs from their pre-conceived ideas. For example, in a fair percentage of the cases of obvious owner neglect, when we point out that the real problem is owner neglect (rather than a vehicle defect), we get very strong reactions from the OP, including assumptions/accusations that we must all work for the vehicle manufacturer.
One of the biggest problems in our society nowadays is the widespread inability to accept personal responsibility for one’s actions, and what seems to go hand-in-hand with that situation is the inability to accept criticism–even when the criticism is given in a polite & diplomatic manner.
Or, in other words…How dare you give me an opinion other than the one that I wanted?

UMMMM…It’s satellite. Unless you live in a Mountain valley…you can’t get away from it.

I can only scratch my head at this one. At first it looked like junior varsity trolling, but then I saw the author. Econobox, you’ve been here a while and contributed just fine without having listened to the show, apparently. Sorry the show isn’t your cup of motor oil, but the good news is you can carry on as before without listening to our lousy program!
