Car remote

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Ever since I bought the vehicle, last year, to use the remote to open the doors I have to get within 3 feet of the vehicle. I have replaced the batteries in each of the remotes without improvement. I understand that there is a receiver located in the car. Where is it and can it be fixed to improve the reception range?

The vehicle owner’s manual will tell you the location of the reciever. Back in the '90’s it was a reflective/smoky sphereoid in the overhead console. I seriously doubt that reception can be improved unless the reciever needs cleaning.
