Car "dying" on highway

There are days that I am driving the highway and pushing on the gas does nothing. I am not sure that dying is the correct word. I can step on the brake, and it slows it down, but there is no pressure behind the gas pedal. A little while, up to a few minutes, later it feels as if something has kicked in again. Some days it does it more than other days and some days it doesn’t do it at all. Any ideas as to what might be happening?

How many miles on the car? Have you replaced the fuel filter? It almost sounds like fuel starvation and the most common culprit is an old dirty fuel filter.

osita, even bologna has a first and last name. Please tell us the Model-Year, Make, and Model, and of this car(?) so that we have something on which to base any advice. Not all vehicles are the same.

Example : 2002, Chevrolet, Malibu

…and please give us a rundown of the car’s maintenance over the past 3 years.
That will allow us to avoid suggesting things that are likely not necessary.
