Can you help me ID this vehicle?

Yep, good point and detectives told me as much. They are trying to keep out of media for now, even though it appears through Nextdoor posts that there are some other connected cases. Seems to be the person’s MO to put 15+ rounds in unoccupied vehicles and has been working within a specific geographic radius.

Detectives are saying that it’s impossible for them to tell make and model based on the limited views. They did release the full video footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4pY1cSpEbA&list=PLVKMlDpuxXX2kow8FbEskv8lLeA1yD9-L

The choices can certainly be narrowed down quite a lot. It is red. It has some longitudinal lines on the roof. Looks like the minature radio antenna is in the middle in the back on top. The 2012 Ford edge has a traditional antenna in the front in the middle.

This one has tinted rear windows but the front passenger seat is not tinted or rolled down. The size of it in the video looks more like a minivan, but vans don’t slope like that so much and the other black and white images makes it look smaller.

I showed an eyewitness photos of 2011 Ford Edge. His comments:

“This does not look like the car. It was older and more round, smaller.”

Let us know what time to watch for on the youtube.

vehicle begins driving into the visible field at the 11 second mark

2011 - 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee https://www.cars.com/research/jeep-grand_cherokee/ - edit: I think the 2011 Jeep rear glass is not square like the video though. 2010 is square but it doesn’t have the rear center antenna thing.
Jeep Compass is is similar

2011 Dodge Caliber is a good match - https://www.cars.com/research/dodge-caliber/ - edit: except the Caliber doesn’t have the longitudinal indentations on the roof, which I believe are found on vehicles with a roof rack option.

2006 Dodge Magnum? It is a performance station wagon car. Something a criminal would like to drive. https://www.cars.com/research/dodge-magnum/ But if the black and white image is correct, the Magnum is too long to be a match.

So we are looking for:
A vehicle with a rather square rear glass that is sloped forward. This is the most definining factor we have.
It has longitudinal indentations on the roof, which I believe is common with a roof rack option.
It has a rear center mounted antenna bulge.
The roof slopes down in the back.
It does not have a sunroof.
The front seat window is not tinted, but the rest are.

The eye witness says it is small, but most everything that fits the above requirements are taller SUV type vehicles.

It is possible to determine the height of the vehicle if access to the camera is possible, by driving by again and comparing. Without being able to do this, I don’t think there’s much point in trying further. The distance from the head light to the front of the roof can be determined too.

I saw an older model ford edge the other day and its looks very similar.

The older edge doesn’t have the middle bulge for the antenna near the back. It is visible in the video.
