My car’s been running fine lately, but the Brake light has started to turn on intermittently. Sometimes the light will turn off as i press the brake, but when I press the accelerator again, the light comes back on. There doesn’t seem to be any functional problem with the brakes…yet. Does anyone know what I need to do, if anything?
Your owner’s manual will tell you that the brake warning light is not to be ignored. It is telling you that your brake fluid level is too low. You need to add brake fluid, and have the braking system checked for leaks. If there is no leak (there probably isn’t one or your brakes would have failed by now), then you also need to have the condition of your brake pads checked. Probably the fluid is low because the pads are worn down and they may need to be replaced now.
I’ll add some brake fluid before I drive home, and I might as well get my brake pads and system checked out this week.
Thank you!
