Biplane engine sound when I hit 2200 rpms

I have a manual 2000 Honda CRV. In the last few months, my car makes a sound like a small airplane whenever the rpms hit 2200. Above and below 2200, there is no noise. It occurs no matter which gear I’m in. Any ideas?

The tin heat shields that “protect” the exhaust system have a bad habit of failed spot welds which allows them to buzz and rattle at certain engine speeds…They can make an amazing amount of noise…

Your mechanic may suggest removing the offending parts. I would agree with him. Others may not…

You may also have an exhaust leak. It may not become apparent until the exhaust is flowing a certain velocity or pressure.

Thanks!
