2001 Honda CRV noise at 2100rpm

Hello,

My Honda started making noise a couple of weeks ago intermitantly when RPMs were just above 2000, at 50-60mph with my foot on the pedal. The noise is loud- sounds like it’s coming from the front of the car under the hood. (Kind of a gravely sound- almost the laboring way it sounds when I step on the gas to acellerate from a slow speed to a higher speed (highway) in a very short period of time when at a high RPM). Now it is happening always at 2100 RPM at various speeds 19, 40RPM. It always happends with my foot on the gas pedal whether I am accelerating or maintaining. When I take my foot off the pedal it goes away.

I have taken it in to my local shop- a place I have been going for years. They tell me they can hear it on and off and thought it had to do with my exhaust. They put it up and had a look- but everthing looks fine and tight and they said not to worry about it. I can’t help it- I need to know what this highly annoying sound is, and how to go about fixing it. PLEASE HELP! Thank you.
