My '90 Eldorado has an astroroof that has stopped working. When I bought the car a month ago, the previous owner told me the switch had to be tried a few times before the roof would operate. He was correct, and the roof did open/close after several attempts with the switch. Now, though, nothing is happening. The switch makes a slight clicking sound when pressed, and it appears the roof makes a slight movement as if trying to engage but then nothing. The tracks are clean, and I have tried the vent feature (and pressed up on the roof while pushing switch – nothing). I located on a parts site an actuator and also a relay switch. Could replacing these possibly help? If so, does anyone know where these parts are located on the Eldorado? Thanks for your help!

That was telling you the switch was on its way out. Try some electrical contact cleaner spray on it to bring it back to life.
