I heard that 2 oz/per 10 gallons of gas nearly doubles your MPG…any thoughts???
No, it doesn’t.
We get this one about once a week. Like so many urban legends it just keeps getting a new life. This one has been around since I was a kid and that was a long time ago.
The simple answer is no. If you really want to get crazy, you could in theory have a car that had the fuel system extremely clogged reducing the mileage to 50% and they were using a gasoline without any cleaners in it (you can’t buy it you would have to make it) and then maybe the solvent ability might get it back to normal. Of course I doubt if the car that bad off could run.
Consider this if it really was true, don’t you think someone would have really proven it and every auto manufacturer and every tree hugger around would be pushing it?
