Accord ignition click

when I put the key in my '94 accord it makes a loud “click” and the dash lights come on, but the motor doesn’t start. if I repeatedly turn the steering wheel from side to side I can usually get the car to start and then it runs just fine.

This usually means the starter solenoid contacts are bad and so power doesn’t get to the starter motor. You can replace them but it may be better to just replace the starter entirely. I am assuming that the solenoid and starter motor are in one complete unit.

What makes a loud click? The ignition switch, or in the engine compartment? If turning the steering wheel gets it to crank and start, there may be wiring problem in the steering column.
