When I turn on the right signal on my Olds Intrigue the back light flashes faster than normal. The front light does not flash. I purchased a new light bulb for the front. I replaced the bulb. The back flashes at a faster rate but the front does not flash. I replaced the front and rear bulbs. The front does not flash and the rear flashes at a faster rate. What do you think? Do you think there is a broken wire or broken signal flasher?
A common problem with the turn signals on this car is the socket that bulb goes into is burned up. Take a close look at the contacts inside and you should be able to see the problem. New one should be available for about $30 if I remember correctly.
Try replacing the rear bulb too.
Re: ASE’s suggestion, I absolutely concur. I’d suggest trying washing the socket with some spray “contact cleaner” available at any Radio Shack. It might save you the work and cost of replacing the socket. It’s worth a shot.
Make sure the socket has a good ground as well.
