72 dodge powerwagon w300 with 318 wont start

I have spark, I did a tune up replaceing the spark plugs, cap, rotor, points and condenser. When I try to start it fuel is pouring out the top of carb and its trying to start but just wont run. !!!please help!!!

Sounds like a bad float or stuck needle valve in carb, A remote possibility is a fuel pump putting out way too much pressure. The brass floats can have a hole in them and fill up with gas, the neophrene ones can absorb gas over a period of time and become to heavy, or your float or needle valve could be stuck.

And tapping on the carburator with a hammer handle will sometimes get a float unstuck. But the carburator requires rebuiding when this starts happening
