Seat trim at bottom outside of drivers seat and passenger seat- Poorly designed plastic clip on back side of trim has failed. It was not from abuse. It appears that any compression of the seat cushion places force on the trim and breaks off the inner plastic clip. Vey poor design. I installed a self tapping screw with th ehead painted black, lot less trouble than dealing with ford. Now the low quality vinyl seat cover on the the side is seperating (vinyle from the fabric underlayment. I hae to eithr repir or rplace seat cover. Bot issues are design/quality issues.

Just remember that ALL vehicles will have their problems, no vehicle is perfect… 
You’re probably making the best common sense solution with your diy approach. If that doesn’t take, suggest to ask at the dealership if there’s any pertinent tsb’s, recalls, customer interest bulletins for seat problems.
