2018 Mazda 3 folding mirror problem?

The exterior mirror in the passenger side just won’t unfold when I start the engine, so I just have to unfold it manually. This is a pain really cause I’ll forget to do this if I’m in a hurry. I heard this is a common problem with this model, is it true? Anyone had the same problem and how did you fix it?

Sounds like the mirror motor works since you didn’t say it would not fold in either, so I’m guessing it needs reset someway… Did this happen after the battery went dead or was changed out??

Maybe try unfolding the mirror as soon as you get out of the vehicle, so you don’t forget the next trip out… Vehicles didn’t always have them… You can also turn them off it looks like…

I’m sure just like everything on these modern day vehicles, there is an outside mirror module that might need to be reset… (again just guessing)

I found this in the owners manual…

  • The automatic folding function can be turned on or off.Refer to the Settings section in the MZD Connect Owner’s Manual.
  • In the following cases, the outside mirrors do not fold out automatically. Press the outside mirror folding switch to fold out the outside mirrors.
    • Pressing the outside mirror folding switch to fold in the outside mirrors. *1
    • Disconnecting the battery terminals after the outside mirrors fold in automatically.
  1. When the automatic folding function is changed from off to on after folding in the outside mirrors, the outside mirrors fold out automatically.

Here is the digital copy…

I think this is the MZD Connect Owners Manual…

Maybe someone here will know how, if able, to reset the module…
