Why would my 2015 Buick LaCrosse power steering lock up? I appears it is an electric power steering with no power steering fluid. Car was outside overnight. No rain nor snow. Temps hit low of about 25. Tried to drive it but steering locked up nearly completely. Just barely able to turn wheel. After sitting for 3–4 hours, car started and problem was gone. Any ideas?
Likely it detected an error in the steering sensor and shut down the system. Get it scanned at the dealer for error codes stored in the steering computer. That would be the place to start.
If your regular mechanic can scan codes in the steering module, they would be a place to go as well but don’t go there if they can’t scan that specific computer.
