engine is stalling at low speeds or when turning into a garage door
Is the yellow check engine light on? How many miles? What engine?
I would highly recommend discontinuing this practice…body work isn’t cheap!
Since it’s an Equinox the first thing I would check is the oil level. Does your Equinox use a lot of oil and do you check and maintain the oil level on a regular basis?
Other possibilities are a dirty throttle position sensor (TPS) or the Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valves. My 2013 Equinox recently threw a P0014 code. To clear the code I changed the oil and replaced the intake and exhaust Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valves. It wasn’t stalling with the code, but the idle was a bit smoother after the valves were replaced.
One final thought, turn off ECO mode if you are using it. In my experience it has little effect on mpg and drops the idle speed a bit.

The electronic throttle body controls the engines idle speed.
Have someone try cleaning it.

Replacing the garage door is also not cheap.
