A friend borrowed my Kia Soul and drove it with the emergency brake on, not fast, maybe four miles…should I worry about anything? have brakes checked!?
Yes, have the rear brakes checked
Unless you start to hear strange noises from the rear brakes, I wouldn’t worry about it.
The primary rear brakes are disc brakes. The parking brakes are drum/shoe type brakes.
With this type of brake system, the parking shoes don’t wear because the parking brake is applied when the vehicle is parked. So there’s no wear.
So the little amount of driving that was done with parking brake applied, probably didn’t remove much lining from the parking brake shoes.
