2011 Hyundai Sonata - Steering wheel controls gone

all steering wheel controls stopped working!

I’m sorry to hear that. I don’t know if an independent mechanic can work on that, but that’s where I would start!

Probably needs a new clock spring.

I was assuming he meant things like cruise control or stereo control, not the actual wheel itself…wouldn’t it be great if @angel48 would actually come back and provide more info without becoming another “Ask Someone Who Owns One” ghost???

That likely would be affected with a bad clock spring. It’s the part that transfers signals from the steering wheel controls (cruise control, volume buttons and so on) around a turning steering wheel to the cables/wiring that go to the individual components the buttons control.

Edit: I believe a bad clock spring could actually prevent the airbag from deploying.

If the airbag was effected the air bag light should be on.

I have steering wheel controls on my 2012 Camry, don’t use them and would not fix them if they were broken/

One more vote for Clockspring, there’s little else that could be the culprit
