have a 2008 edge limited AWD with 81000 miles. Occasionally when starting the engine it will continue to crank and not start. I turn it off and restart it and it starts. Is the starter going out or what else could be wrong. Dealer wants to charge a diagnostic fee but like I said it happens occasionally. Thank You
The next time the engine won’t start, turn the ignition switch off.
Turn the ignition switch on so the dash lights come on for two seconds, and then turn the ignition switch off.
Repeat this a half dozen times and then try starting the engine.
If the engine starts right up, it points to a problem with the anti drain-back valve on the fuel pump assembly.
