The chrome on the alloy wheels is peeling of pretty badly. GMC replaced the wheels about 8 years ago under warranty. Is there anything that can be done to make them look better? The truck has reached thw point where we are really interested in spending a lot of money on it.
Is that what you meant to write. You can replace the wheels for less money than having them re chromed .
Millions of trucks and SUVs have wheels that’ll fit your Yukon. I bet you can find a decent set of used ones for not too much money.
www.tirerack.com
offers replacement aftermarket wheels, some for reasonable prices.
There are also numerous wheel interchange references on the internet, and any boneyard can tell you if they have used replacement wheels for your vehicle.
You can also paint them. You need to clean the surface and then roughen it slightly to provide keying for the paint to stick. It should be primed first. This is not expensive, but it is a lot of work.
That was my first thought too, but if the chrome is peeling off the base flashing any paint applied will simply come off too as the problem progresses.
