While on a trip my right rear power window became uncooperative. It starting making a grinding thumping sound when I tried to roll it up or down. Now it is stuck half way up. I was able to pull it to the top and tape it to the door frame. I can hear the motor run if I try to use it. Of course my Mfg. warranty ran out in June. Will this be a major repair?

Remove the door panel and check if the window is binding in the track or the window regulator is broken.
If the regulator/motor is broken you should see a rusted/frayed wire.
