When the car is turned the ignition key gets stuck in the switch
Turned where?
Are you saying you can’t turn the key all the way to the “off” position? Try jiggling the steering wheel side to side.

I suspect that the battery is dead and the gear shift interlock solenoid won’t allow the ignition to be turned to the lock position.
It is possible your key is worn out, try getting a key cut by the chevy dealer by vin number $10, otherwise get it diagnosed, could be a bad ignition switch, do you have many keys on your chain, try it with a solo key and see if that helps.
