2004 VW Passat Airbag Light

The airbag light on my 2004 VW Passat Wagon (1.8L, 4 cyliner) came on spontaneously. We took it in and they found several stored codes: #1222 /29-00, and 30-10, 60-10, 37-10 short to ground, open short to plus, incorrect adjustment, faulty. They tried clearing the codes, but code #122 / 29-00 came right back.
It was suggested we pull the airbag module out and send it to Myairbags.com to be reset; however we learned that they only fix/reset the module if the airbags have actually deployed - which they haven’t. We found the airbag module and are wondering what to do now. Do we take it to the local VW shop, or should we take it to a VW dealership? Are there other options?

Thanks for any help/advice.
