2004 Chevrolet Malibu Classic - Turn signals dying

turn signals work some time
they click maybe one time then quit

Is it a Malibu or a Classic???

Probably the Multifunction switch (ie turn signal switch)… Napa has hundreds at their Hub for Nashville, meaning it is a big seller…lol

Does the lever “feel” easier to push up/down?

I’ll second the opinion above, most likely a faulty turn signal switch. I doubt this will prove to be an overly expensive repair. In meantime suggest to be extra cautious when driving b/c you may get distracted by fiddling w/the lever, taking away from full driving attention; and other drivers in the vicinity may become confused by your car’s turn signals.

Part should be around $100.00 to $200.00 range and labor rate time pays 0.9

Sounds like the electronic flasher has failed.

That was my 1st thought but I don’t see a flasher at Advance or Napa… And I have replaced a lot of them (turn signal switch) and Napa shows hundreds at their Hub for my area and you only keep that many if you are selling a boat load of them…

If I am reading it right the flasher is part of the Hazard switch… And the O’Reilly part looks like a Hazard switch… Napa has a lot of those in stock also… Thank Nevada_545…

EDIT: you can always order the Hazard switch and plug it in, but Don’t install it yet, see if the turn signals work, if so then go ahead and install it, if not return it for the turn signal switch…

Good point to consider. OP, do the turn signals work more consistently in one direction than the other?

I’ve got the same car and had this issue a long time ago. Replacing the hazard flasher (built into the switch) in the dash fixed the issue for me. Don’t buy the cheap one at autozone though because my turn signals hyperflash even with regular incandescent bulbs… Maybe I got a crappy one idk… as long as they work I’m happy. ymmv
