Hi, I have a 2001 Cavalier. Less than a year ago I had to get my motor to the driver’s side power window replaced. A week and a half ago I was driving and had the windows down and the driver’s side did not (and will not) go back up. I can’t take it back to the repair shop - they went out of business. I also don’t think it’s the same problem, because previously it sputtered shut over a period of a few weeks. I think it’s an electrical problem (fuse maybe), but I can’t seem to find anywhere to check it. The passenger’s side works fine. Any ideas??
Pull the door panel off and then you can access the window regulator, etc.
There’s likely at least two screws (near the door handle) and then plastic clips that hold the rest of the panel on. Use a thin pry tool and be prepared to replace a few clips.
If there are power window/door switches in the door arm rest, pry them out and disconnect the wiring connectors. Same goes for the door speaker wires (if applicable).
Remove the plastic membrane on the door carefully so it will stick back on after.
Use a multi-meter or a continuity tester to find the fault.
Also, check and (dry) lube the window guides/tracks.
