I have a 1996 plymouth neon with a manual transmission. About a month ago, the clutch failed on me while I was trying to slow down. I tried starting it a few days ago, and could not get it into gear at all. So I shut off the engine, put the car into gear, and started. The car didn’t lurch at all. THe emergency brake was off, and the clutch was fully engaged. Is this a failed transmission?
No.
Your clutch is not releasing completely. If it drags just a little bit, the synchronizers will let you shift into gear.
