1996 Nissan Maxima acceleration shake

I have a 1996 Nissan Maxima (V6 Auto). The car starts, stops, and runs great. I have a problem when accelerating hard; There is a vibration through the steering wheel. It goes away when cruising at speed (any). Under slight acceleration it is hardly noticeable.
