Windsheild washer fluid not coming out

Hello,

My windshield washer fluid is no longer spraying (at the front or back). I have cold temp washer fluid in it. I checked the fuse box as best I could and they all seem fine…

The weird thing is I just had my wipers at the front rep[aired a week ago (the “transmission” needed replacing?), spent $200 plus on that, and now the fluid won’t come out… It was for about a week. I am wondering if this is at all related, or an unhappy coincidence? I have a VW Golf (2001), which is beginning to cost me… :frowning:

Any advice for a broke student?

Much appreciated.

Check the tubing under the hood, make sure it isn’t disconnected. It may have been in the way or attached to part that was changed. Some systems have pump on the holding tank for fluid, check connections if you can see. Also take a fine needle or pin and gently poke spray tips in case of clog or snow/ice in them.

did you check the pump when you picked up the car HUMMM. if worked ok did they put in winter washer fluid hummmm. do you hear a pump trying to work hummm. if not it could frozen. hummmm. put car a garage over night and try again. pull off lines and blow through tem to see air goes through them. check fuse. not much more then this.

$200 for a replacement transmission on a 2001 Golf? I don’t think so. How’s that (tranny) working out? The washer fluid is easy . . Just think of it as a big squirt gun with an electric motor intead of a finger pump. The reservior (the thing you fill) should be free of ice. If not, get this car into a heated garage overnight if you can, if not . . and there IS ice in there . . try really hot water in it to try and melt the ice . When you activate the pump mechanism (button/turn signal/whatever) can you hear the pump running? This is a little electric motor/pump which pumps the fluid through small hoses to sprayer things . . which the other poster said to check with a needle or pin to clear the nozzle. Could be a number of things . . but basically a simple set-up . reservoir . . . pump . . . hoses . . . nozzle. Be careful not to put too much water in the reservoir (to melt the ice) and not too hot either. The reservior is plastic and can distort and the water can re-freeze if you don’t pump it all out. The pump should be easy to check . . could be as simple as a blown fuse. Rocketman
