dextron VI comes in many type the dealer gave me 10 -9118 yet other companies say any backward fluid will work , is this true to adding a conventional fluid.

Yes it is. Don’t over-think this. Dextron is backwards compatible.

Any type Dextron or universal synthetic or conventional is perfectly fine. My preference is Dextron VI Just don’t pour Mercon or Toyota or Honda spec ATF.
