My advice to the OP is this: “Don’t be a slave to your possesions, particularly your vehicle”.
I maimtain my van so it can serve me and my needs. I am responsible for transporting my fellow musicians to rehearsals and concerts. I keep up the maintenance, but I am not so obsessive that I worry about getting every drop of oil out of the crankcase.
During the Covid situation, I had agreed to be a part of a recording session in a venue 15 miles west of my residence. I figured on half an hour to make the trip.and have time to get set up. An hour before the recording session, the principal flute player called me and said she had a flat tire and could I come get her. She lived 25 miles southeast of my house. I agreed and with some spirited driving, we made it with 5 minutes to spare by taking the hypotenuse of the triangle from her house to the recording venue. I didn’t have to put the drain plug in the crankcase and pour in the oil.
I would suggest to the OP that if you receive a 4 a.m. call to rush blood to a hospital that you have your vehicle ready to go. Getting blood delivered is more crucial than getting to a recording session.
I played triangle in kindergarten
How often do your 100+ MPH blood deliveries interfere with your asinine, multi-day oil changes? Statistically, it can’t be that common of an occurrence.
