Background Info: 2001 Honda Civic Lx Coupe

When I put my car in REVERSE, a strange whining noise is emitted from both of the front wheels of the car. The sound goes away as soon as I apply the brakes and does not occur while the car is in DRIVE. What could be making this noise? Wheel bearing? CV joints?
