‘What's to Love About the New Jersey Turnpike? Everything.’

The only thing I remember is Howard Johnson’s motels and people hard to understand with their accent. Oh yeah and those orange hoofs at gulf or some station. Maybe the wrong state but east anyway.

Way back when, all of the restaurants on the NJTPK were operated by Howard Johnson’s. Of course, they’ve been gone for a very long time. When I worked on the NJTPK, the gas/service facilities were run by Cities Service (later, Citgo), but they’ve been operated by Sunoco for quite a few years.

Yes, Gulf used self-adhesive plastic orange hoofs to promote their No-Nox gas.

This was a few years after Esso used their Tiger Tails to promote their premium gas.

Not to single any part of the country out for accents but I was at the Yellowstone gift shop trying to buy some film but I had a hard time understanding her accent. I guess I was ten or twelve at the time so hadn’t been exposed much to the world.

Probably said the same about you.
