I’d be worried if my 1951 Ford F100 with a 239 flathead V-8 made that noise.

It’s a Ford Focus C-Max 1.6 TDCi from 2006.

I don’t hear whining but I do hear a fast cadence clicking. You might need the tappet clearance gap checked and reset.
