Love a rolls Royce. But, I could afford a Lexus LS. Just as nice.
A really solid mid-90’s Japanese pick-up. Maybe with an extended cab, not 4wd, AT or standard.
I occasionally have a hankering for a mid-1960s Cadillac hardtop like the one my mother had. That car was a lot of fun in a straight line. I’ll probably go more toward the exotic end if I get another car though.
I owned a $300 1999 Tacoma 5 speed 4 cylinder for a while. I can see the appeal. The one I owned was formerly owned by a handy man, had 287k miles and was dubbed “the ugliest truck that still runs” by one of my coworkers. But a nice one, I can see being a solid choice.
A car I always enjoyed driving was the old VW air cooled Bugs and Beetles for some twisted reason. They just chugged along through everything in front of them. Owned 3 of them at times along with a 59 hippie bus I converted to a 67 motor with more horses.
For a time I was even making a 50 miles a day commute to work and back in a 69 Beetle with an Automatic Stick. (Did not care for that feature too much.)
The car was straight and given to me for free with a ,major converter trans seal leak. One evening and a 5 dollar seal fixed that.
Golf cart!
Oh no! Yet another of George’s stories … lol … I was golfing w/a couple of friends at a rural course we’d never been to before. We three were pulling handcarts, & got matched up w/a guy who was driving a golf cart. Turned out he owned the golf cart, wasn’t a rental, and it was clear he was very proud of it. He stored the cart at the golf course, and pretty much always played at that course. Being considerate golfer we praised his golf cart immensely to stroke his ego, then promptly forgot about it. Later my friend’s ball got into some tricky terrain and he had to punch the ball out of the rough. When you do that, its hard to tell for sure how high the ball will fly, or how fast, it’s a gamble. This time unfortunately the ball came out low and fast, like a line drive, and “bam” right into the guy’s golf cart … lol …
Money no object? 737!
Hmm, I suspect the fuselage of a 737 would take up more than two lanes on the interstate.
I would buy a fully restored 1958 Buick Limited. Why? Because it’s the most chrome laden, flamboyant American production car ever made, it has a great power train, and it rides like a dream.
The thread title didn’t say road going vehicle.
Given that limitation, my next choice is Studebaker Avanti.
Might want to get rudder failure insurance … lol …
My comment was in jest. An R3 Avanti is on my dream list, along with all body styles of a 51Commander. Many other Studebakers on my dream list.
