What tire ideas in today's market for a passenger car?

But they marry Firestones.

That union went to divorce many years ago.

Two “options” I would stay away from: pirelli and general. Usually had pretty good luck with michelin.

Goes way back. Harvey Firestone had a winter home in ft, myers along with Edison and ford.

For many years ford cars came with Firestone tires. In the 60s a friends dad bought the local ford dealership. He had been a Firestone executive.

Regardless of marital issues there was always a strong connection with ford.

Had become pretty expensive and no much promo.

Reminded of that watching yesterday’s Detroit Lions game - former Lions owner was Martha Firestone Ford, who passed the franchise on to her daughter.

I LIVE in Fort Myers. I know all about the Ford, Edison, Firestone connection.

I’m not talking about marriage between 2 people, I am talking about the relationship between Firestone and Ford. The Firestone - Explorer debacle 25 years ago wrecked the relationship between Firestone and Ford. See article below.

I can’t remember the last time I saw Firestone or even Bridgestone (Firestone’s owner) tires on a new Ford car or truck.

Yeah I know you do. I let my museum membership lapse this year though. Just too congested and expensive down there. I was talking the 60s and early 70s. Our fords and mercury all had Firestone tires back then. About the only tires the ford dealership had were firestones.

Firestone might have been the predominant brand with Ford in those days, but it wasn’t an exclusive thing. My father’s '66 Ford Galaxie 500 came from the factory with BF Goodrich Silvertown tires. They were more or less okay when it came to road manners, but they were evenly-worn across the tread by 16k miles and had to be replaced.

Maybe Firestones would have been better, or maybe not.

Of course they all came from the same dealer where the owner had been a Firestone exec. So that may explain it.

I stopped buying michelin when it VOLUNTARILY started incorporating passive spy devices in their tires back in 2004 before it even was mandatory.

Yeah
keep making excuses for traitors. “How about
” works really well. NOT.
Oh, and don’t use foreign terms like “Communism” without clear understanding what they mean.

What are you talking about?

Maybe the tread noise transmits secret messages.

Several of my ancestors died at the hands of Japanese during WWII. Should I refuse to buy or drive a Toyota?

Not a foeign term at all. The administration was riddled with agents. The navy deciphered the coded meessges to Russia and there were fbi reports. Most of it is public now.

I don’t put as much thought into a tire purchase. Do you need to go back to 1939 when choosing tires?

Since 2004, every tire sold in the US must have a passive tracker similar to those used by clothing stores, they set the alarm off when a shoplifter is trying to go through the door. The receivers were installed at ATMs, gas pumps, driverthroughs. Don’t think this system is in use now - we carry way more sophisticated surveillance devices aka “cell phone”.

Patronizing questionable entities violates my religious beliefs. I do avoid citibank, gm, ibm, coke, and some others for the very same reason - they not only make junk but also are traitors to this country. I now not everybody feels strongly about treason

@purebird
If you don’t know something, it just must be a hoax. Unless some alex jones tells you about it.

Definitely foreign - even the late Soviets never claimed to have “Communism”.
How about you use a more appropriate term “totalitarian”? Oh, you probably think that nazi germany was socialist, don’t you?

That’s totally different. First, Japan is a totally different country that it was then. Unlike ford that never acknowledged its misdeeds. Second, Japan was at war with the US so the Japanese did not commit treason against their country. Unlike ford. I would never buy a German car but not because of WW2 and Holocaust you probably believe never happened but because they are junk. Same reson: Germany - just like Japan - is a civilized country now while ford - given a chance would collaborate with the next nazi in a heartbeat. Oh, did I mention that it also makes garbage?
