To me, J.C. is the best of all time, bar none. He was funnier than hell and classy to boot. If you haven’t seen it before, find 2 clips: 1 of him interviewing Barbara Nicholas (Jack’s wife) and the other of him interviewing George Goebel, with Dean Martin sitting next to him. Absolute Gold.

I used to think Steve Allen was really funny too and watched him all the time. Now it seems like just too much slap stick.
Our two main TVs are on cable but the rest are on an antenna so I get about three of the old shows. Late one night I even saw Sea Hunt which I hadn’t seen for a long time.
Seeing your name though, before I found out for myself what that meant, my 8th grade science teacher was waiting every day to see if he would get called up for the Cuban missile crisis. He had just bought a new Buick and it was his first year out of college. So every day we were glad to still see him in class back then.

Back to cars. On the antenna channels, “My Mother the Car” with Dick Van dyke would be on once in a while. I also caught an episode of “Highway Patrol” with Broderick Crawford and his 56 Buick (or 55 or 54). Even as a kid it drove me nuts when he’d drive over the center line all the time.

So we’re a lot of people back then. That was not unusual. Smoking too. I’m just glad that my rental cars these days don’t reek with tobacco odors.
