Maybe due to its strong popularity on the island why I so happen to embrace and admire the vw bus. My Dad actually owned one back in his early days and I enjoyed the loud sound of the engine ( similarly to that of a lawn mower).
I’m a bit late on the somewhat newly introduced VW ID buzz, having just found out its existence. I think it’s an appealing ride ( a bit feminine though) and I’ve read that it’s an electric machine.
My friend recently went to look at it in person and has said the VW ID buzz is roomy and unique — much bigger than what was shown over the internet.
Do you think the the VW buzz will have the same success as its classic siblings ?
The only sure thing about it is that it will be a lot faster and a lot safer than the old VW microbus. Heck, a little kid’s tricycle is faster than a VW microbus.
Yup!
Zero to 60 took more than 30 seconds, which means that it was unsafe to drive one on an expressway. Because of that, it might not have been possible for some owners to experience the thrill of driving at its top speed of 65.
Those old VW microbus have a cult like following, the people that like them, love them, and can pay big money for them… I think the TreeHugger’s will love these as well… I think it is kinda cool for what it is, but I would not want one, like the old/new Beetle’s, neat little cars, not my cup of tea…
I bought a 71 VW Bus brand new. It was a great vehicle for the 6 of usd. I did not care for the air cooled engine. Max crusing speed was listed at 68 mph but mine would actuall get up to 72 on the lever but I had to adjust the valves every time I changed the oil. The majotity of tractor trailers I drove had a lower top speed and the were driven on every interstate. You just have to stay in the right lane. When I drove for Yellow freight during the double nickel era they had a fleet full of GMC Brigadier tractord that showed a top speed of 56 mph but actually only going54.
